York is an experienced government adviser and community activist from Sydney, Australia. She served as the director of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Branch of the Department of Environment and Climate Change. From 2005 to 2007 she was a policy adviser to the former New South Wales minister for the environment. In 2003, she served as the president of the New South Wales Branch of the National Union of Students. She was also an organizer for the Sydney Peace and Justice Coalition. Her other volunteer activities include being a community organizer for International Women’s Day, Reclaim the Night, and the National Organization of Women Students Australia. At Harvard, she writes for the Kennedy School Review.
